Senior Reflection
So far my senior year is going just fine, a lot of work and very stressful but it going good. Having to reach deadlines and project update is just so much work, but when is it not stressful every year of high school is stressful some more than others. I am at the point in my senior year where football season has ended and now basketball is about to start.
Football season our team did good not the best but they made it to playoff. I would film all the game for both JV and varsity, meaning I would get in free for all the games and even get out school early if needed to leave with the team. Even though I may not be able to play football anymore I still get to be involved with the team, sucks not being able to be out there playing but I get to support my brother and even friends that play. I can’t play football anymore but I still have baseball.
To start off the year I was on pace 7 for 7 right now I am at 6 for 7 not the best, I should be 7 for 7 but I’ll catch back up. I have join the after school program red zone and they have helped out a lot with helping everyone stay on pace in their class work and even keep them eligible for sport. With the whole senior project I am still currently working on my life map I want to make mine really creative and I still can’t find how I want to do it. I have all mine events I going to put in it but just need to draw it out, once it drawn out it will be done.
The only fun thing about the senior project has been the job shadow, going out and interviewing someone you want to get in a career as. Me I have some different ideas on the things I want to be like for instance I did my job shadow on a barber that’s one of the things I would like to have a career in. I would always like to have a career in culinary, cooking is my thing I love to cook even more than cutting hair. With cooking it relaxes me and I enjoy it, I like seeing the reactions on people faces when they try my food making people happy with the things they eat and the things I make. What I am really looking forward to my senior year is the internship I am going to have at a family friend’s restaurant; I get hands on experice working with food and a chef that knows what he is doing. This will help me out in the long run, because some day I would like to own my own restaurant.
That is my main goal for the future is get my own restaurant. As a kid I’ve been dreaming of it. After my parents divorced and my mom always at work and my being the oldest boy in the house as a kid its hard, but I needed to help my mom out so I learned to cook most of it has been self-taught others of it has been taught by my grandma before she passed away. So that’s my goal is to go to culinary school just my business permit and open my own restaurant
The Halfway Point!
Senior year isn’t as easy as everyone thinks it is there is so much work to get done and making sure you hit all the due dates and finishing all the work you need to get done on time. I would have to say it very stressful but I’m doing well in all my classes hitting all my due dates getting my work done and staying 7 for 7. It still in too early in the year to fall behind and not have to worry about not failing a class I’m not playing sports at the moment football is over basketball is going on now and I go out and support the guys and girls on all home games. Always such a great time being out at the games with all my friends cheering on our team.
At this point my senior project isn’t coming out so well I’ve been so busy with all my other classes and trying to keep that 7 out 7 that I keep putting my project aside and doing everything last minute. It isn’t good because I should be getting it all done at the same time so I don’t have to put even more stress on myself. Putting off my senior project and doing it last minute taught me a lesson and that lesson was always keep up on your work so you have time to get everything you need to get done on time so there isn’t any stress.
My job shadow wasn’t the way I wanted it to be I like cutting hair and cooking but I couldn’t find a chef that had the time so I could job shadow them so I went with my backup plan and did a barber. I’ve thought about going to barber school and everything but once I saw the way of being a barber and how they have to have so much patients and have to deal with rude people walking in every day. I didn’t realize how rude people are to barbers like these barber are put through a lot. They take their own time out of their day getting up early cutting hair all day being on their feet with sometimes no breaks and people don’t understand that at all. But at the end of the day they are still making their money and doing the thing they love which is cutting hair.

Winter Break
Winter break is coming up now. Wow senior year is going by so fast it’s not even funny soon we will all be going our separate ways working going to college making our dreams come true. From the beginning of the year I’ve been on pace in all 7 of my classes. This is the first year I’ve been 7 out of 7 for this long. My freshman year, sophomore, and junior year I struggled just to stay on pace for the eligibility for sports. For once I don’t have to worry about that, I don’t have worry about falling behind or not getting my work done because now I have it all set up where I get it all done in class so I don’t fall behind. I have to thank Red Zone a lot for all the extra help they give and the time they take out of there afternoon staying to help us so we don’t fall behind. I have to say one class I am struggling on at this point is Economics I’m getting the work done but just this the little things I’m struggling with like the vocab and the quizzes. I can get them done but it hard to understand them at times the wording in everything is so different. Going from the handouts to the quiz the questions are difficult to understand. Well enough about my work, I can’t wait for winter break too start already so I can go to San Francisco and visit the culinary school I’ve been looking at. International Culinary Center all my life I’ve always wanted to work in a kitchen being a chef and cooking for people and making them happy with all the amazing foods I love to make. The International Culinary Center isn’t the only school I’ve been looking at there are others but this one caught my attention the most. It isn’t a big school yeah I know it’s not no 4 year university no is it a community college but it is the school I want to go to so I can start my career right away. I dream of owning my own restaurant starts with this school. The classes consist of 14 students 1 chef and everything is hands on, as soon as class starts the chef gives them the recipe that they will be doing than he tells them what to do after that they are on their own making their food of the day. Classes are small so that the chef can help everyone equally and no one is left behind or confused on hat to do. I’ve done all the research I needed to know about this school and I can’t wait to go visit.
